Durante a 86ª edição do Salão de Genebra, ocorrida em março deste ano, a Volkswagen exibiu o Phideon, seu sedã de altíssimo luxo que se posiciona acima do veterano Passat. O elegante representante alemão do segmento premium foi desenvolvido com foco especial para o mercado chinês e já começará a ser entregue agora no terceiro trimestre de 2016.
Projetado na Alemanha, esse VW de porte grande mira, particularmente, três grandes oponentes germânicos: Audi A8, Mercedes-Benz S Class 600 e BMW Série 7. O Phideon é a representação máxima dos sedãs ´super saloons´ de alto luxo da Volkswagen. Esse tipo de veículo tornou-se praticamente uma exigência no mercado chinês, aonde consumidores abastados e empresas de transporte de executivos optam com mais frequência por carros com essas características. Com 5,05 m de comprimento, o Phideon tem mais de 3 metros de distância de entre-eixos, ou seja, oferece espaço de sobra para quem vai sentado na parte de trás.
O modelo top de linha da VW sairá com motores equipados com turbocompressor e sistema de injeção direta de gasolina. Haverá duas versões: a primeira (mais completa) com propulsor 3.0 TSi V6 de 300 hp, torque de 44 kgf.m e tração nas 4 rodas e a segunda, mais mansa, com unidade TSi 2.0 de quatro cilindros e tração apenas no eixo dianteiro. Um modelo com trem de força híbrido plug-in já está sendo desenvolvido para o futuro.
A Volkswagen divulgou que o design frontal desse carro inaugura um estilo que poderá ser encontrado em novos sedãs de grande porte que serão lançados pela empresa alemã. Evidentemente, esse carro comportaria com folga até cinco pessoas, mas a maioria dos modelos terá configuração apenas para quatro passageiros, com especial atenção para quem vai viajar nos assentos traseiros. As enormes poltronas têm ventilação e aquecimento, regulagens elétricas e até mecanismo de massagem.
Para completar, o pacote vem com suspensão a ar (a mesma utilizada pelo VW Group na marca subsidiária Bentley), possibilidade de uso em cinco modos de condução, sistema elétrico de fechamento suave das portas, head-up display (que projeta informações no para-brisas) e modo de visão noturna à base de câmera que avisa ao motorista se há pessoas ou animais na estrada ou nas imediações do caminho. Volkswagen unveiled the front design of the car opens a style that can be found in new large sedans that will be launched by the german company. To top it off, the package comes with air suspension (the same used by VW Group brand subsidiary Bentley), possibility to use in five driving modes, electrical system soft closing doors, head-up display (designing information in the windshield) and night vision mode based on camera that warns the driver if there are persons or animals on or near the road.
